Basic Skills ProgramThe Basic Skills Program is set-up by the Unites States Figure Skating Association (USFSA). The purpose of the program is to teach basic skating elements. The program teaches a series of eight badge levels. The skater is taught the various elements for a particular level and tested. Upon passing a test, the skater will receive the badge for that level and a certificate and move into the next badge group. In the fall there are two sessions offered per week, Tuesday evening at Glacier Pointe and Saturday afternoon at McMorran. For spring and summer there is one session offered on Tuesday evening at Glacier Pointe. Coaches from our professional staff are on the ice giving group instructions. Higher level skaters (Ice Captains) are also on the ice helping the skaters. |
